Moving On 02:50
MOVING ON When I was 19, I met a handsome boy He swept me off my feet I was in my hometown, he was travelling A stranger soon my lover my friend We’d stay up all night, just to watch the sun rise I’d fall asleep in his arms We rode that wave together for a while Til the wind it blew him away Got to keep, moving on, moving on Got to keep moving on and on Got to keep, moving on, moving on Got to keep moving on and on And on In my 79 Volkswagon, combi van, baby blue I followed that boy to the south I drove all night just to be by his side So free, so young, so in love And we made a life together I thought he was forever Til a dark cloud moved over our home A light growing inside of me You weren’t ready to live that dream I knew, it was time to go Got to keep, moving on, moving on Got to keep moving on and on Got to keep, moving on, moving on Got to keep moving on and on And on When I look back now and see your eyes They were just as scared as mine I wish I’d seen it then But the choices we made yesterday No one can take away I wish you’d held my hand Oh I wish you’d held my hand Got to keep, moving on, moving on Got to keep moving on and on Got to keep, moving on, moving on Got to keep moving on and on And on

FORGOTTEN SAILOR He sailed away into darkness Into a forgotten sea He wanted so much to be a sailing man He wanted so bad to be free Through storms and high water he struggled to find A place where he could ease his mind So he gave into misery, he gave into time Never again he’d see sunlight Do I bare myself to lose you again Do I close my eyelids and pray for your return Your days astray left me with memories that I would like to forget That I need to forget He walks through the streets like a ghost so unknown Pulling at his arms the evils of this town He begs, steals, to hold a fix in his hand I’ll whisper my prayer for him, til the end Do I bare myself to lose you again Do I close my eyelids and pray for your return Your days astray left me with memories that I would like to forget That I need to forget Many years passed by, that sailor unseen No word of his boat, his suffering Some people say he ran his ship to the ground But I don’t believe them cause nothings been found And I’m sure I saw him in the afternoon light A lady in his arms sailing into the night And his eyes were so clear, he smiled at me My prayers were answered my sailor was free

Speargrass 02:59
SPEARGRASS Could we rest here a while While that hot desert sun beats down Could we spend some time And dream of how it all began Close my eyes and listen to the sounds Women chatter and the kids are running around Open my heart and I feel that fire burn This is my chance to learn Everything we need is here Love, water, shelter and food Time has no need here We are living by the sun, the stars, and the moon Close my eyes and listen to the sound Women chatter and the children running round Open my heart and I feel that fire burn This is my chance to learn So many hands have made this bread So many souls have stood where I stand So many feet have walked this road And now the story is told Kids are making boats to sail on the billabong Someone’s cooking up a storm yeah Kytes are flying overhead Their wings are making shadows Making shadows on this land Close my eyes and listen to the sounds Women chatter and the children running round Open my heart and I feel that fire burn This is my chance to learn

DEEPER THAN THE DEEP BLUE SEA She loves her teddy bear and yellow fairy wings She loves it in the afternoon when the kookaburra sings and the ocean takes her breathe away She takes mine She loves when we read stories at night She’s the last one I kiss before I close my eyes And when I wake to the morning sun I say a prayer for this little one I hope that you trust me and tell me all that you dream I hope that you know my love goes deeper than the deep blue sea It goes right to the heart of me Right to the heart We play in the garden planting tiny seeds We watch them grow into the food that we eat Each day they get a little bigger just like her We go for walks, we laugh and we talk To the bugs and the beetles all crawling underneath us She stops to watch them work and I stop to watch my girl I hope that you trust me and tell me all that you dream I hope that you know my love goes deeper than the deep blue sea It goes right to the heart of me Right to the heart I hope I can grow you up my girl to be kind and strong And I hope that any hurt you have my baby Never lasts for long And right by your side I will always be Cause my love for you goes deeper than the deep blue sea

Old Friend 04:36
OLD FRIEND Rest now old friend Save your breath Your thoughts I can hear Your eyes a story they tell Your body is tired And time’s running short It’s ok to leave now, you gave it all that you could I send you my heart filled with all my light and love And I hope, I hope That the morning sun shines for you And the rain falls down in the afternoon Let it fall down like tears and wash away our fears May the night sky be clear and warm May the moon rise one that’s just been born And those stars guide your way to a new day So courageous, so beautiful, so brave I can hear the angels now, calling out your name I pray for your children That they’ll understand That you are everywhere now You’re always a safe place to land I send you my heart filled with all my light and love And I hope, I hope That the morning sun shines for you And the rain falls down in the afternoon Let it fall down like tears and wash away our fears May the night sky be clear and warm May the moon rise one that’s just been born And those stars guide your way to a new day And those stars guide your way to that, Brand new day that waits for you And I will see you, but not too soon

CATCH THE WIND – Donovan In the chilly hours and minutes of uncertainty I want to be in the warm hold of your loving mind To feel you all around me And to take your hand along the sand Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind When sundown pales the sky I wanna hide a while behind your smile And everywhere I'd look your eyes I'd find For me to love you now Would be the sweetest thing, it would make me sing Oh, but I may as well try and catch the wind Di dee di dee di dee, di dee di dee di di dee When rain has hung the leaves with tears I want you near to kill my fears To help me to leave all my blues behind For standing in your shadow Is where I wanna be and I long to be Oh, but I may as well try and catch the wind Oh, but I may as well try and catch the wind

I GIVE YOU MY LOVE Hold onto these hands they’re the ones that understand you Together we’ll fly, with love on our side Like a moth to the light I am so drawn to you I’m stuck in your web there ain’t nothing I can do And everything about you makes my heart sing You’re the love of my life the joy that you bring You open my heart, you open my heart I never ever want this love to grow apart I give you my love, I give it I give you my love, come and get it I give you my love, I give it I give you my love, come and get it We made a girl she’s sweet like honey pie She is my world the apple of my eye We met in a dream, underneath the cedar tree Born into my arms in a cabin on a hill And everything about her makes my heart sing She’s the love of my life the joy that she brings She opened my heart, she opened my heart I never ever want this love to grow apart I give you my love, I give it I give you my love, come and get it I give you my love, I give it I give you my love, come and get it I thought I was lost at sea But somehow you found me I thought my boat was sunk But you sailed it back to safety And when you held me on the sand When you took my hand I knew I’d found a home with you I give you my love, I give it I give you my love, come and get it I give you my love, I give it I give you my love, come and get it

IN OUR HEARTS A fire in our bellies, a dream in our heads We won’t fall away, we’re rising up to take care of this land We wont be defeated, its not a fight or game Over and over and over we’ll try and if we fall we’ll rise again Cause in our hearts there’s a burning fire In our eyes there’s a dream that arose Time can not break it, we will not be broken by time To this land we’re all tied Creatures of the sea Those who can not speak All roam this earth and sky We’ll be your voice We’ll always ask why Cause we are all part of it Right from the start we should’ve been Doing our best to not make a mess Time to clean it up time to act with love Cause in our hearts there’s a burning fire In our eyes there’s a dream that arose Time can not break it, we will not be broken by time To this land we’re all tied If we keep mistreating the earth then we’re heading for extinction Its fact not fiction, got to protect the eco-systems Its like a choose your own ending story There’s gloom and there’s glory We need to tread so lightly so we can see the future brightly We all share the same dream to live in love and joy But we get caught up thinking happiness comes from owning every toy And its only we who can save us and only we who have the power To make conscious choices every minute every hour Cause in our hearts there’s a burning fire In our eyes there’s a dream that arose Time can not break it, we will not be broken by time To this land we’re all tied

Henry 04:56
HENRY Seven years alone, his garden is overgrown Where once she grew flowers, its now weeds and overgrown trees Its now weeds and overgrown trees He sits on his front porch, with tea made for one He pours a cup, mumbles something soft “Mary, you were my everything, and I miss you, oh how I miss you” Slow steps to the front gate, he stands there a while Watching the streets, the cars going by All these people, with somewhere to go All these people, and none that he knows Sun sets its time to turn in, he turns on his beside lamp Closes his eye, he lets out a sigh With his hand on the pillow where her white hair would flow and his body holds a shape like he was holding her close And he dreams that she comes to him in this dark night And she appears like an angel surrounded with light “Henry, my love. You are my one. You are my everything and I miss you, oh how I miss you and I love you, oh how I love you… Now pull up those weeds and trim back those trees, plant me some flowers and pour me a tea Henry I’ve never left your dear side, for you are my husband and I am your wife for you are my husband and I am your wife Oh Henry, if you ever feel alone Just look to the flowers, the flowers you grow And I’ll be standing by the prettiest rose.”

So Lucky 03:46
SO LUCKY I could live by the ocean, spend my days swimming like a fish I could live by the riverside, buy a canoe for me and you I could live on a mountaintop, by a waterfall, amongst the trees Spend my days writing poetry, making cups of tea Making babies Don’t know where is home Do I stay, do I go On that gypsy road Will you come with me Could we pack our things and leave and make the road our home I could live in the country, with a garden right outside my door I could live in the city, but it don’t suit me, I wouldn’t last long Don’t know where is home Do I stay, do I go On that gypsy road Will you come with me Could we pack our things and leave and make the road our home Could we pack our things and leave and make the road our home Ooh, ooh, ooh, so lucky Ooh, ooh, ooh, so lucky I’d like to live in a house made of wood Or made of mud, just made with love Or in a bus that runs on veggie oil Take the kids travelling the deserts to the shores Or in a boat that sails the 7 seas, no electricity just glide with the wind I’d like to live my life in love with you No matter what we choose Til our days are through Ooh, ooh, ooh, so lucky Ooh, ooh, ooh, so lucky Ooh, ooh, ooh, so lucky

about

Loren Kate’s latest offering, ‘Moving On’ came to fruition through a successful crowd-funding campaign via Pozible.com, where over $16,000 was raised in 3 months from over 220 fans donating towards the albums creation. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Aria Award winning producer, Paul McKercher (Augie March, Pete Murray, You am I, Sarah Blasko) and recorded over 10 days at Jim Moginie’s (Midnight Oil) Oceanic Studios on Sydney’s northern beaches using Jim’s vintage equipment. It was then mastered by Steve Smart at studios 301 Sydney.
The sound that unveiled was timeless, drawing parallels to folk masterpieces of the 70’s but with a contemporary twist, a true testimony to Loren’s musical influences; Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Carole King, Bob Dylan.

Featuring some of Australia’s finest musicians, the record includes contributions from Bill Chambers, (father of multi award winning country singer, Kasey Chambers) on additional guitars who comments,‘Loren Kate is a superb singer/songwriter. I count it a privilege to have played guitar on her amazing new album.” As well as Trent Prees on Double Bass, Charlie Jones on drums, Iain Grandage (recipient of the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award 2012) on everything keys , Mel Robinson (Tim Rogers, John Butler, Mukti) on cello, Sarah Humphreys (ABC music artist of the year 2009) on backing vocals, Veronique Serret on Violin and a 3 second guest appearance from Loren's 2 yr old daughter.
