about
This song was written a few days after our dearly loved friend, Jethro, passed away. I had an urge to write a song and this is what emerged. I in no way feel like I wrote it, but more that I was the vessel for it to be written and sung...
In honouring Jethro's love of the De Tong Ling Buddhist Retreat on Kangaroo Island, all funds raised from the downloads of this song will be donated to the retreat.
___________
Jethro Adams was diagnosed with ALS type Motor Neurone Disease in January 2015. He and his partner Claudia and their daughter Finley were living in India at the time. Within days of diagnosis Jethro took himself to see Lama Zopa Rinpoche in Bodhgaya in India and asked for advice on how to live and die well with this new challenge life had presented him.
Jethro was an adventurer of the mind, the body and the spirit. His curiosity knew no bounds. He lived a very full 46 years and never wasted an opportunity to travel, learn, or be kind.
Someone close to Jethro could tell you how he sailed the world or how he started studying at University at age 18 and never stopped. Or about the simple way he lived always thinking of his impact on others, riding his bike, growing his own food, consuming so little, always fixing, loving a second hand bargain. Or they could tell you about his laugh or the way he danced, so crazy and out of time but with such joy. BUT in a life so well lived what Jethro really showed us all was how to be brave and true and accepting in the face of adversity. His true, fair, kind, often unexpected wisdom and love will live on in all those he knew.
Jethro died so peacefully at home on the 21st May 2018 with his partner Claudia and his beloved daughter Finley by his side. He had a beautiful Farewell ceremony in the meadow beside his house and was cremated. In lieu of flowers Jethro asked that any donations kindly be offered to De Tong Ling Buddhist Retreat Centre in Kangaroo Island South Australia.
lyrics
Stay up all night with me my darling
I want to fell you right by my side
Run your fingers through my hair
Again and again and again
Tell my stories, sing me prayers
Whisper all the things I need to hear
These eyes won't see another sunset
But our love it has no end
Our love it has no end
I'll be the wind in the trees
I'll be the storm out at sea
I'll be there laughter in your ears
I'll be the mud between your toes
our love has filled up our home
I am everywhere you need me
When the morning light comes creeping through my window
And the the rain is threatening to fall
Lay me on my side so I can see it clear
And hold my hand while I die
Hold my hand while I die
I'll be the wind in the trees
I'll be the storm out at sea
I'll be there laughter in your ears
I'll be the mud between your toes
our love has filled up our home
I am everywhere you need me
This body's too weak, to hold my soul in
My spirits too wild
Its time to set it all free
I'll be the wind in the trees
I'll be the storm out at sea
I'll be there laughter in your ears
I'll be the mud between your toes
our love has filled up our home
I am everywhere you need me
I am the light in the dark
i am electrical sparks
I am the sail that steers your boat
I am each colourful shirt
I am each morning song
I am everywhere you need me
I am everywhere you need me
Though you can't see me, I'm here...
